Privacy Policy
Clipt is local-first. Your clipboard history lives on your device, and syncing across your Macs is optional. This policy explains exactly what data is involved.
🗂️What we collect
For local use: nothing. With no account, Clipt works fully offline and your clipboard history never leaves your Mac. If you choose to turn on cross-device sync, we collect your email address to create and authenticate your account — and nothing more.
💻Your data stays on your device
Your clipboard history (text and images) is stored locally on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly enable sync. If you delete the app, that local history goes with it.
🔒How synced clips are protected
When you turn on sync, every clip is end-to-end encrypted on your device (AES-GCM) with a key derived from a passphrase that never leaves your Mac. Only the resulting ciphertext is sent to the sync server. The server cannot read your clips — it stores encrypted blobs it has no key for. This is true end-to-end encryption.
🌐Network use
The only time Clipt touches the network is to sign you in and to sync your encrypted clips — and only after you opt into sync. Authentication is handled by Clerk. If you never enable sync, Clipt makes no network requests at all.
🚫Analytics & tracking
None. Clipt contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party trackers, and does not use the Advertising Identifier. We never sell or share your data, and we cannot read the contents of your synced clips.
🗑️Retention & deletion
Clearing your history in the app removes those clips locally and on the sync server, and the deletion propagates to your other Macs (pinned clips are kept until you remove them). To delete your account and all associated server data, email us at the address below.
👶Children
Clipt is suitable for all ages and contains no objectionable content. The only personal data it ever collects is an email address, and only for those who choose to create a sync account.
